Which brings me to our story …

He was fourteen and she was twelve when they first met. She moved into his best friend’s house, not his idea of a best friend, a woman. But her blue eyes and sexy legs had him flirting with her. She was interested in some of his classmates so for a number of years they were in and out of relationships with many in the school so that before they knew it, she was twenty-six and he just two years older. Now married forty-three years, they have what she calls a life full of Brian’s ‘little adventures’. They have lived in various parts of South Africa but not Orkney, she banned it, not knowing how close we came in Klerksdorp until we arrived. Brian has been a minister of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and Wendy gradually moved into her own business called The Write Setting. Those were the days of little computers and abysmally slow printers. One customer Boggy, so filled up his first page with text and photographs, that it took the whole night for the software to interpret and rewrite from ordinary text to Postscript. In the meantime, Brian was studying part-time and finding all sorts of cheap alternatives to computers, being a poor minister. He moved from pen to an old 286 ‘on steroids’ and a second hand Brother typewriter that took a specially coated paper because the ribbon was too expensive. From there Brian advanced to a one-handed Microwriter which typed out 4 kilobytes of text because its memory was full. Here Brian wrote his Masters until Wendy taught Brian to type (with two hands) and helped him produce his doctorate, which movementingrace.com is the pop version. Wendy and Brian make up an incredible team: he writes, she sets!
